The Shawangunk Ridge Coalition is an alliance of local, regional and national organizations working to protect the Shawangunk Ridge in Ulster, Sullivan and Orange counties of New York. The mission of the Shawangunk Ridge Coalition is to promote the common goals and objectives of its member organizations and to pursue strategies for protecting and preserving the entire Shawangunk Ridge.
Our Mission is to create a continuous, protected corridor the entire length of the Shawangunk Ridge to protect its pristine water quality, unique wildlife habitat and biodiversity, and to provide public access to enjoy its magnificent beauty and world-famous recreational opportunities.
Other major goals include:
- Advocate for protection of the Shawangunk Ridge.
- Support grassroots advocacy efforts consistent with our mission.
- Assist with the dissemination and analysis of information as it pertains to common goals and objectives.
- Encourage national, regional, state and local conservation organizations and agencies to take leadership roles in the protection of the Ridge and surrounding land.
- Foster partnerships among local, state, regional and national stakeholders towards ridgewide protection.
Shawangunk Ridge Coalition Executive Committee:
The SRC Executive Committee consists of 10 seats with a minimum of 3 seats representing local grassroots organizations. The other 7 seats represent ridge-wide organizations.
